Holbrook Sportsmen's Club

Mandatory Safety Rules

Range Safety and Member Responsibility

All members and their guests are expected to be familiar with and strictly adhere to the rules of each range they use. Compliance with range rules is essential to maintaining a safe environment for everyone at the club.

Violations of range rules may result in disciplinary action. Serious or repeated infractions may lead to suspension or termination of membership.

Range Oversight

The Club does not employ full-time range officers. Instead, video surveillance is used to monitor range activity, and cameras are active whenever the ranges are in use.

At Holbrook Sportsmen’s Club, every member shares responsibility for range safety. Members are empowered to call a “Cease Fire” at any time if a safety concern or rule violation is observed. When a cease fire is called, all shooters must immediately stop firing and follow established safety procedures.

Members are expected to:

  • Respond respectfully when another member raises a safety concern

  • Follow instructions when a cease fire is called

  • Engage in courteous, safety-focused interactions with fellow members

Questions

If you have any questions regarding range rules or the proper use of club facilities, please contact a member of the Executive Board for clarification.

Jeff Cooper's Cardinal rules of Firearms Safety

These rules apply to all ranges.

  • Treat every firearm as though it is loaded.
  • Never point a firearm at anything you are not willing to destroy.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
  • Be sure of your target and what is behind it.
